Opętanie

The story of Roman Batsenko’s first trad ascent of Opętanie (Possession) in the Polish Tatra mountains, at UIAA X (8b) it’s the hardest trad ascent in the country.

When he first had the idea to climb Opętanie on gear, his concept of trad climbing was that it is “just as dangerous as free soloing” but that it must be possible for him someday. This optimism defines Roman’s climbing, unafraid to try dream routes he pushes himself to perform in all climbing disciplines.
